Gal Oya National Park


Gal Oya National Park in Sri Lanka was established in 1954 and serves as the main catchment area for Senanayake Samudraya, the largest reservoir in Sri Lanka. Senanayake Samudraya was built under the Gal Oya development project by damming the Gal Oya at Inginiyagala in 1950. An important feature of the Gal Oya National Park is its elephant herd that can be seen throughout the year. Three important herbs of the Ayurveda medicine, Triphala: Terminalia chebula, Terminalia bellirica and Emblica officinalis are amongst the notable flora of the forest. From 1954 to 1965 the park was administrated by the Gal Oya Development Board until the Department of Wildlife Conservation took over administration. The National Park is situated 314 km from Colombo

Dunhinda Ella

Dunhinda waterfall is big waterfall of Sri Lanka and which is at Soranathota place of Badulla Sri Lanka. Dunhinda waterfall is made by jump water with high gap of Badulu River. This water ways started with Uma Oya, Hal Oya and small rivers at Bandarawela and Welimada area. Dunhinda Falls is at Badulla - Mahiyangana road and there are about 10km from Badulla town. The falls is 1km faraway from Badulla – Mahiyangana main road. Walking path is available for access the falls.  There are small waterfall closed to walking way identifies as small Dunhinda waterfalls.
Dunhinda waterfall is one of beautiful waterfall of Sri Lanka. Downsides of Dunhinda there are three main water Valleys identifies as Randenigala, Rantambe and Victoria. Uma oya direct to Rantambe and other two Valleys from Mahaweli River though Kandy. Uma Oya starts at worlds end and it travels Ambewela, Nuwaraeliya, Uva Paranagama, Welimada, Attampitiya, Haliela, Badulla and ended with Mahaweli River.
In several years ago Badulla town is a large valley. In that time Dunhinda waterfall was not present. Big Vine was blocked the way of Badulu River and there fore the city had become a big Valley. The man called Ranhawadi Dhuraya aspect to remove this vine. He tried several time to remove it. How ever whiting several months he could cut off the whole vine and he died within sleep. After removing the Vine water moves down with spreading. Then the Large and beautiful waterfall was born and it is called as Dunhinda.
Bathing and playing in the waterfall is very danger because downside source is deep and contains heavy rocks.  The drama called "Dunhinda Addara" by Asoka Handagama is describes about related persons of Dunhinda area.
